Chennigaramaiah birth centenary

Chennigaramaiah, the first Dalit minister of Karnataka, was one among the seven members of the K C Reddy Cabinet in 1948.

G Parameshwara, State Congress chief and president of R Chennigaramaiah Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, on Wednesday said that the Dalit minister had made significant contributions to the emancipation of deprived sections of society. He said the Committee would appeal to the State government to set up a Study Chair in the name of R Chennigaramaiah in one of the universities in the State.
