<p>Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena has written to tahsildars and assistant commissioners to submit proposals seeking land. <br /><br />The district administration’s move comes in the wake of District In-charge Minister A Narayanswami’s direction to provide government buildings to the hostels. It is learnt that Deputy Commissioner had written to the officers concerned in the last month. <br /><br />The district has as many as 24 hostels and all the buildings are housed in rented buildings. <br /><br />The deputy commissioner has asked the tahsildars to suggest sites that have access to roads. <br /><br />Following are the number of hostels of the Social Welfare Department that are functioning from rented buildings - Srinivaspur taluk (five), Malur - one, Mulbagal (five), Kolar taluk (seven) and Bangarpet taluk (six). <br /><br />According to the details of provided by the Department, PU College hostel has 150 students and PU Public Government Boys College Hostel has 100 students. Besides, Vocational Boys and Girls College Hostel (each 100), Law College Hostel (50_, Morarji Desai PU Residential College (160) and PU College Hostel (50) of Narasapur in Kolar taluk. <br /><br />In Bangarpet taluk - Boys and Girls College Hostels (114 and 75 respectively), Post-matric Girls Hostel (60) in Kolar Gold Fields, Pre-Matric Boys Hostel (75), Rani Chennamma Residential School (250) and Morarji Desai Model Residential School (250). <br /><br />Mulbagal taluk <br /><br />Boys and Girls PU Hostels (100 each), Morarji Desai Model Residential School and Rani Chennamma Residential School (250 each), Pre-matric Boys Hostel (50); in Srinivaspur taluk: Pre-matric Girls Hostel (82), Girls College Hostel (100), Rani Chennamma Residential School (250), PU Boys hostel (150), Pre-matric Boys Hostel (50) and Scheduled Tribe Boys Hostel (50) in Malur taluk. <br /><br />Ten acres of land would be given to each hostels. Assistant Commissioner R S Peddappaiah told Deccan Herald that five taluks have been told to submit their proposals. <br /><br /></p>
