None of the passengers were injured in the accident. The driver of the road roller has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries. The incident hampered rail traffic on the route, stopping several short and long distance trains at different stations, officials at the East Coast Railways said. Repair to the damaged section will be carried out at war footing to normalise traffic.
Bhadrak Collector, Superintendent of Police and other district officials rushed to the spot to supervise relief operation. A relief train from Kharagpur in neighbouring West Bengal is already on its way to the spot to take the stranded passengers to their destinations.
