One killed, 5 injured in mishap in Sullia

The dead man has been identified as Janardhan Gowda (45), a native of Markanja. The injured are Tanushri, Premalatha, Venkatramana Gowda, Chinnamma and Radhakrishna Gowda. Janardhan was driving the jeep. Speed and rash driving by KSRTC bus driver caused the mishap. 

Six held

Police arrested six persons who were engaged in gambling at  Muddottu Charmady village  in Belthangady. The arrested are Hameed (42), Aboobakkar (67), Acchuttha Moili (48), Riyaz (23), Lingappa Kulal (45) and Chandra (49). The police have seized two motorcycles, three mobile phones, and Rs 22,315.

Found dead

A woman was found dead at Maril in Puttur on Saturday  night. The deceased is Kusuma (24). She took an extreme step of committing suicide owing to family dispute, informed police.

Fisherman killed

A fisherman was drowned while fishing in deep sea at Madikallu on Sunday. The dead is Chandra Kharvi.
