Salgaocar beat ONGC to extend lead

Yakubu opened Salgaocar’s account with a goal in the 29th minute, which was followed by goals from Olivera in the 40th and the 50th minutes. Japanese Ryuji Sueko gave Salgaocar a 4-0 lead four minutes later and Yakubu completed the formalities with a goal four minutes from time.

With the victory, Salgaocar extend their lead by five points with to 37 points from 16 matches. East Bengal lie second with 32 points, having played a match less. ONGC  are languishing at the  bottom of the table with 11 points from sixteen matches played.

Hosts Air India came from a goal down to play a 1-1 draw against Kolkata-based Chirag United in the 16th round I-League match here on Sunday.

After Subhasish Chakraborty gave the visitors the lead in the seventh minute, Okorogor Praise scored in the 36th minute to restore parity for the hosts.

The earlier match between the two teams had also ended in a goalless draw.
Chirag United now have 20 points from 16 games, while the airmen have 11 points from as many matches.
