The Australian cricket team has landed in the City a good one week before their match against Kenya on March 13.

The champions though remained aloof from the moment they landed in Bangalore.

After getting over the jet lag, the boys began walking around ITC Royal Gardenia, where they’re put up.

A few of them were seen greeting the Indian team before they took off to their next destination.

The team moved around in twos and threes and were never seen alone.

They would rather reluctantly oblige a picture and quickly hurry off making it clear that they did not want to make any conversation.

But there was an exception in Brett Lee, who’s always known to be a people’s person.

He moved around and spoke to a few people, posed for pictures, signed autographs for little kids who ran up to him before he settled down to doing his own thing.

Brett Lee hit the gym on the first day itself and later ventured out to the Mantri Mall to watch the Oscar nominated film Black Swan.

Brett was escorted by two guards, who made sure he didn’t take his hood off.

A source, who spoke to Brett soon after he watched the film, revealed, “Brett said that this was one film that he has been wanting to watch for a long time. More so because of Natalie Portman, an Australian, also happens to be his favourite actress.”
But he had to rush off and couldn’t stay longer and shop at the mall.

The source at the hotel said, “The team has been here only for a day. But I think they will open up as soon as they feel comfortable with the surrounding.”  The team members begin their day with a rather healthy breakfast complete with juices, sprouts, ‘good for you breads’, rice, methi and multi-grain dosas.

They make sure they try out a mix of all of these dishes.

They also spend a good amount of time at the bar of the hotel after seven in the evening.

“Most of the Australian players like to drink Corona Beer, a Mexican beer. They prefer Vodka tonic with a tinge of gin. And among the preferred cocktails are orange flavoured liqueur, vodka and cranberry juice,” said a source at the hotel.

Those who are off alcohol nurse a Diet Coke or a Diet Pepsi. They gorge on the many short eats on the menu.

“They love chicken tikka with garlic naan, tandoori and fried chicken. Wasabi prawns is another regular order,” added the source.

The players also munch on a healthy mix of nuts such as almonds, lotus seeds, raisins and peanuts. The source at the hotel says most players never exceed their limit at the bar, “A few may get a little high but they know their limits.”
