In fact, owing to the paucity of land, the work on Deputy Commissioner’s complex, Suvarna Samskrithika Samucchaya, Regional Science Centre, private bus stand are pending.

It was decided to construct Deputy Commissioner’s complex on Galibeedu road. However, owing to the distance from the town, later the venue was shifted to Central Workshop site.

Even the district administration had agreed to construct the complex at Central Workshop. Now the question is what needs to be done with the Central Workshop. If the workshop is closed, then where will the employees go? How to dispose the materials in the workshop? Realising all these problems, the government is yet to give its nod to the construction of the complex.

It was decided to construct the complex at the cost of Rs 9 crore and the Karnataka Housing Board was the implementing agency. However, owing to the change in the venue, the estimate has been revised to Rs 12 crore. The government is yet to give its nod for the revised estimate. Hence, the work on the deputy commissioner’s complex is likely to be delayed.

The rainy season will start within two months. Once the rain starts, then no development works can be undertaken for six months. If the two MLAs from the district pressurise the government, then the work on the complex can be accelerated.

The work on the Regional Science Centre is another story. The district administration had identified four acre land inside FMC College premises. However, FMC College authorities have raised objection to it. Hence, the work has not commenced even after the government releasing Rs 1.30 crore for the same. Interestingly, the FMC College does not have RTC for the college land.

The issue of private bus stand has reached the court. Though the Bangalore Agriculture University had given its three acre land to the CMC for the construction of private bus stand, few public had filed PIL in the High Court against the construction of the bus stand on PPP mode.
