Addressing reporters, he alleged the then Housing Minister S N Krishnaiah Setty has cheated farmers by buying their land at a cheap rate and selling it for exorbitant rate to the KHB through his brother, on the behest of the CM.

Kumaraswamy further alleged that Yeddyurappa’s relatives and Setty have jointly bought large areas of land in Hyderabad and said that JD(S) will soon produce all documents in this regard.

He criticised Setty for his statement that he and his family members are into business as they belong to Arya Vysya community, saying the former Minister is misusing his community name.

“Nobody has any objection for doing business, but not by cheating farmers,” the MP from Bangalore Rural stated.

Kumaraswamy also alleged the Yeddyurappa has misled the Legislature by saying that he has stopped land purchase in Chikkaballapur in March. The purchase was on even in the month of June, he claimed, releasing a document to the media to substantiate it.

Helping farmers

On Yeddyurappa’s allegation that land for various projects was purchased at higher rate than the guidance value during his tenure as the CM, the JD(S) State President said he has bought land at higher price to help farmers.

“The entire money had gone to farmers, who were land owners. But Yeddyurappa Government has given the money to middlemen,” Kumaraswamy charged.

Final decision

Asked about the possibility of the JD(S) having a tie-up with the Congress for the coming by-elections, Kumaraswamy only said the party chief H D Deve Gowda will take the final decision in this regard. He skirted all questions on the tie-up.

On the speculation that H D Revanna’s wife Bhavani contesting from Ramanagar seat in the coming by-elections, he admitted that party workers are pressuring the leaders in this regard.

But he said he will not let down the workers in the constituency.

The final decision will be taken after consulting the workers, he added.
