Air India pilot arrested for forging marksheet

 An Air India pilot has been arrested for forging marksheet to procure pilot licence. Pilot J K Verma was picked by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police on the basis of a complaint filed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This is the second arrest in four days for forging the marksheet of Pilot Licence Examination.

Captain Verma, in his 40s, was picked up by the Police on Saturday for questioning and has been arrested consequently on the charge of cheating and fraud. According to the police officials, two more names have been given by the DGCA. The scanner is on pilots Meenakshi Sehgal of Indigo and Swaran Singh Talwar of MDLR airlines, said officials. Both are said to be absconding.

Delhi Police had on March 8 arrested Parminder Kaur Gulati (38), of  Indigo ailines for allegedly obtaining the mandatory Airlines Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) on the basis of forged documents. Gulati was suspended on January 11, after an incident of hard landing at the Goa airport. Gulati had forged the marksheet of examination papers she could not clear.
Meanwhile, the DGCA is scrutinising the Commercial Licences of 3,000 to 4,000 pilots after the arrest of Gulati.
