Alva is new Uttarakhand Governor

Alva had contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Uttara Kannada and lost.
According to a communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Jagannath Pahadia has been appointed

in place of A R Kidwai.

Uttarakhand Governor B L Joshi has been transferred and appointed governor of Uttar Pradesh for the remainder of his term in place of T V Rajeswar.

Another senior Congress leader Devendra Nath Dwivedi has been made governor of Gujarat in place of Nawal Kishore Sharma whose term has expired.

Syed Sibtey Razi, Governor of Jharkhand, has been transferred and appointed governor of Assam for the remainder of his term. K Sankaranarayanan, Governor of Nagaland, has been transferred to Jharkhand.

Congress leader from Punjab Iqbal Singh has been made  Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
