'Take back land given to Reddy for steel plant'

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Congress leaders K C Kondaiah and V S Ugrappa said the Minister had recently made a statement in the Legislative Council that he would remain a politician and give up mining business. “The government must immediately take steps to take back the land sanctioned to him and return it to farmers,” they said.

The government must not return the money deposited by Reddy at the time of entering into an agreement for the purchase of land. It must compensate the farmers who lost their crops, as they parted with their land. In addition, penalty should be collected from Reddy for violating the agreement, they said.
