Cultural, literary mela enthrals Kodavas

Kodava Sahithya Academy President Rani Machaiah said the Academy will provide funds for the development of Kodava language and literature. The Academy had organised seminar, ‘Kodava aatpat’ programme. Special emphasis will also be given for those who engage in reserach in Kodava literature, he said.

Various cultural programmes held as part of Kodava Samskrithika Mela enthraled the public. Various teams presented ‘Bolakat,’ ‘Kolata,’ ‘Kathiyat,’ ‘Ummathat,’ ‘Valagathat,’ ‘Balopat,’ ‘Urtikot aat,’ ‘Pariyakali,’ ‘Thalipat’ and so on. The participants were enthralled at the ‘Urtikot aat’ of Poomale Kudiya members. The poomale kudiya women danced to the tune of ‘Aa male, ee male, Bottath male...’

Various farm equipment used by the forefathers of Kodavas, utensils used during the yester year and arms and ammuniation were kept for exhibition. The valedictory of Kodava Samskrithika Mela will be held on March 21 at 2 pm.
