Last Updated 19 July 2009, 18:58 IST

The extended stretch of the corridor has Yeshwantpur to Hesaraghatta Cross and R V Road Terminal to Puttenahalli, adding 9.1 kms to the 33-km corridor in Phase 1.

According to the BMRCL sources said the committee has been constituted and is headed by former bureaucrat, Krishnappa.

“With the earlier compensation package announced, we will be paying compensation to people, who have lost land  and owners of properties after acquiring their properties, as per Fair Market Value. The Krishnappa committee is likely to submit its report to the government in August," said the BMRCL sources.

Compensation package

As many as 989 private properties will be acquired for the extended corridor of the project, which will be costing the State exchequer an estimated additional of Rs 1,664 crore.

It may be recalled that the BMRCL had earlier appointed former IAS officer P S S Thomas to evaluate and prepare a compensation package for properties acquired in Reach 1 of the project.

The metro work from Byappanahalli to the Chinnaswammy Cricket Stadium will be completed by December 2010/January 2011, Yeshwantpur to Swastik by June 2011, the underground section by June 2012, City station to Mysore Road by August
2012, and the City market to R V Road terminal by September 2012, all in Phase 1.
