The police arrested Venkatesh Rao, the owner of SLN Auto Mobile Service Centre at Nayandadalli and his brother Ganesh Rao, both residents of Cubbonpet, and seized a .32 revolver and a four-wheeler.

According to police, Rajesh, Santosh, Dharam Singh and Shailendra, all aged between 22 and 31 and residents of Cubbonpet and Kumbarpet, were returning home on two motorbikes after celebrating Holi around 11.30 pm. They all were drunk.

They stopped their bikes near a public toilet between B V K Iyengar Road and Cubbonpet on Avenue Road behind State Bank of Mysore.

The Rao brothers too were returning home after having drinks and dinner at a club on J C Road. Venkatesh stopped his car as a two-wheeler was parked on the road blocking the way. He noticed Rajesh standing near the bike and honked to attract his attention. But Rajesh ignored him.

An irked Venkatesh got down from his car and had an argument with Rajesh. When Rajesh raised his voice, Ganesh got down from the car and put a gun to Rajesh’s neck.

Noticing three others rushing out of the toilet to Rajesh’s rescue, Ganesh fired twice in the air, forcing the trio to abandon their rescue attempt.

Rajesh was then attacked by Venkatesh with a stick, injuring him in his right leg, police said.

Hearing the sound of bullets, the police night patrol in the area rushed to the spot.

They arrested Venkatesh and Ganesh and seized the weapon and the vehicle, said the Chickpet police station inspector Shivakumar.
