Speaking at the World Theatre Day celebrations, after launching Mandya Ramesh Natakotsava, at J H Patel auditorium in Chamarajanagar, he said people should come forward to conserve theatre, which is in the verge of going extinct.

Chamarajanagar is the native of many artistes who have made a name and carved a niche for themselves in the country. Comparing to cinema and drama, he said the artiste has the chance of repeat performance in cinema, whereas the drama artiste has only a single opportunity to showcase his expressions and talent and win the hearts of the viewers.

District labour officer M Nagaraju stressed the need for Kalamandira in the district and also suggested to stage plays regularly which would bring relief to the artistes who are reeling under poverty.

Kollegal Manasa Shikshana Samsthe secretary Dr Dattesh presided. Lions president Chinnaswamy and others were present.
