Besides, certain restrictions have been imposed on transportation of sand into Bangalore urban district from other districts. Accordingly, lorries transporting sand should be completely covered.
The Karnataka Sand Policy 2011 has imposed a ban on use of filtered sand across the State. Production of filter sand has been adversely affecting the fertility of agriculture land. It is also not safe for construction activities.
Those who are found involved in production/ transportation of filtered sand will be booked under the Goonda Act, a release stated.
