Busy hands

To say that the children were excited would be an understatement. It had children in the age group of four to 12 years participating in a lot of activities with much enthusiasm. The event was a food art workshop to enhance and nurture the abilities of the kids in the art and craft of cooking. “It is to give the kids an open hand at food, which is something they don’t get to do at home. They can use their creativity to decorate the food and learn in the process,” said Khushboo Nagpal, one of the organisers. The event was a fundraiser held by Bangalore Knights Ladies Circle-107.

At the event, kids had an opportunity to experiment with food and enjoy the day with the various activities. As far as food was concerned, most were no-flame cooking cuisine like chaats, sandwiches and cake decoration. But there was also a open pasta counter where chef, Paritosh Shetty taught the kids a little about the Italian flavours! The sandwich counter too was full of surprises as the kids cut up sandwiches in a variety of shapes and the colourful bread sure added zing to the food item.

‘Tasty Tangles’ or the ‘chaat’ counter had the children mixing up some sev puri for themselves and next to it was the counter ‘Cuppy Cake’. Everyone was busy smearing icing on the beautifully cooked cup cakes and decorating them with a variety of tasty delights. 

There was a potter’s paradise which drew a lot of attention from the children as they learnt about pot making. Some of the other art stalls were ‘Magnet Painting’, where the children made fridge magnets, ‘Origami Counter’, ‘Masquerade’. There were also personalised key chain-making stalls. “I have gone to a few counters already but I really enjoyed the art stalls,” said Ghena, one of the kids at the event. The event ended with a fashion show, for which the kids walked the ramp, and a round of bingo. It was a weekend full of fun.
