In addition to gorging on lots of good food, going out with family is also high on their list.
They hope the New Year would usher in a new dawn with lots of new projects and they hope to get bigger and better as actors. Metrolife caught up with a few stars and asked them how they plan to spend ‘Ugadi’ this year.

Puneeth Rajkumar

“It’s the women who get most busy during Ugadi. They dish up delicious stuff and we just sit around and gorge on all of that. It’s an ideal time to get together with family and friends. Though I am on a strict diet, I will let go for a day and feast on all the sweets, especially bele obbattu which is my favourite.”

Radhika Pandit

For me, Ugadi is a very special festival. I spend the day with my family and friends. We begin the day with an oil bath and decorate the house with thorana made from mango leaves and take the blessings of the elders in the family.  There’s the traditional bevu-bella which represents the sweetness and bitterness of life. The food is the highlight with dishes like holige and pachchadi which are my personal favourites. The evening is spent with the community, getting together to listen to the Panchanga. I hope the coming year is better than the last year.”

Neettoo

“I am looking forward to spending this Ugadi with my close family and friends. Every Ugadi, I make it a point to chalk out certain resolutions which I manage to keep most of the time. Like every year, this year too, I hope to get some good movies. I am also looking forward to the special lunch made at home and no Ugadi is complete without holige, which is my favourite.”

Preetika

“I will be shooting for a new advertisement on Ugadi day. Sweets will be made at home and there will be puja, for which the family members will come together. It’s work for me as usual.”

Arjun Sarja

“Ugadi is the only time when friends and family come together. Food, especially obbattu, is an integral part of the festival. I don’t really take a holiday. I prefer staying at home than venturing out.”
