Kannan was beaten up by Vijay Kumar (38), a businessman from Maruthi Nagar, Yelahanka, when he asked his daughters to undress so that he could perform a particular “task” around 10.45 am near Kogilu Cross, police said.

Kumar had approached Kannan seeking a solution to his problems. However, Kannan asked him to bring his entire family along. Besides, he demanded Rs 20,000 as fee for performing the “spiritual task”.

Although Kumar hesitated initially, he agreed to bring his family.

He also paid him Rs 10,000 and promised to give the remaining amount once the whole ritual was completed. Kumar took his wife and three children, including two girls, to meet the Kannan near Kogilu Cross.

The suspect took Kumar’s daughters to a corner and allegedly asked them to remove their clothes.

He even tried to get cozy with them and pushed the teenage girls. Unable to bear the swami’s actions, the girls rushed to their father and narrated the story to him.

An angry Kumar thrashed Kannan, dragged him to the police station and lodged a complaint. The Yelahanka Police have registered a case under Sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation), 420 (cheating), read with 34 of the IPC.

Kannan, a native of Kerala, has three wives. He took to “spiritual healing” a few years ago and used to collect thousands of rupees to solve their problems.
