They took out a protest rally from the Inspection Bunglow to the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) office in the city.

The protesters alleged that disruption in power supply has caused inconvenience to students writing the examinations and also supply of drinking water.

Addressing them former legislator G V Sriramareddy said district in-charge minister Shobha Karandlaje, who is also Energy minister, has time and again claimed that there was no power crisis in the State, even though the State is suffering due to irregular power supply.

The Agriculture minister based in Belgaum is unaware of the farmers’ problems, he alleged. Irregular power supply has affected the agriculture as the farmers were unable to pump the water to their fields. It has led to withering of the crops.

CITU Gram Panchayat Employees’ Association state unit Maruti Manpade said intense agitation would be taken out if their demand was not fulfilled at the earliest.

Raita Sangha district unit president Gangireddy, Secretary C Gopinath and leader B N Munikrishnappa were present on the occasion.
