Maheem detained

In a press release, Bangalore Police Commissioner stated that punishments under the existing laws had so far failed to deter Maheem from indulging in “serious bodily crimes against innocent public”. Hence, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) submitted a report to detain him under the Goonda Act in order to maintain peace and order and safety of public at large, the release said.

Maheem, a resident of Someshwaranagar, First Block, Jayanagar, started his criminal activities in 1995 with an attempt to kidnap and assault case in the Siddapura police limits.

 He is among the rowdy-sheeters booked at the Siddapura police station, and is allegedly involved in 17 criminal cases, including two murders, one attempt to murder case, four kidnap cases, three assault and three rioting cases at Tilaknagar, Siddapura, Jayanagara, Halasuru Gate, Banashankari, Kalasipalya and K S Layout police limits, the police commissioner said.

Maheem was allegedly involved in the brutal murder of corporator Diwan Ali a few months ago and police had taken him into custody.
