Indian junior girls posted a facile 3-0 win over Kazakhstan in their first encounter before going down to Thailand 1-3 later in the day. In the cadet girls category, India blanked Sri Lanka 3-0.  The boys, on the other hand, started their campaign with a crushing 0-3 defeat at the hands of formidable Korea. However, they came back strongly to round off the day with 3-2 victory over Sri Lanka.

An agile Ankita Das gave a perfect start to the hosts in the junior girls category, beating Margarita Kharechko of Kazakhstan 11-8, 11-6, 11-9. Pooja Sahastrabudhe then beat Khusseinova Gulchekhra 11-7, 11-8, 11-1 to give India 2-0 lead.

Mallika Bhandarkar, although, had to struggle a bit before carving out a 11-2, 11-2, 5-11, 11-2 victory over Timchenko Alexandra.

Cadet boys: China bt Iran 3-0; Japan bt Bahrain 3-0; Hong Kong bt Thailand 3-1; Sri Lanka bt Singapore 3-2.

Junior boys: Korea bt India 3-0; India bt Sri Lanka 3-2; Japan bt Singapore 3-0; Iran bt Pakistan 3-0; Hong Kong bt Kazakhstan 3-0; Chinese Taipei bt South Korea 3-2; Thailand bt Bahrain 3-0.

Cadet girls: China bt Hong Kong 3-1; Singapore bt Kazakhstan 3-0; Chinese Taipei bt Thailand 3-2; India bt Sri Lanka 3-0.

Junior girls: South Korea bt Japan 3-1; Singapore bt Thailand 3-0; South Korea bt Thailand 3-0; India bt Kazakhstan 3-0; Thailand bt India 3-1.
