The vice-chancellor is accused under section 107 (Wilful instigation) of IPC in the sexual harassment case involving the dean (now suspended) of PG Zoology Department of the varsity, Prof Shivabasavaiah. The professor, also the prime accused in the case, is booked under section 354  of IPC for harassing the lady research scholar.

Sources at the office of ACP A K Suresh who is also the investigating officer told Deccan Herald, a copy of chargesheet that is already done, will be submitted along with the requisition to the court.

The cops will take all possible steps that could help clear the hurdles for investigating the high profile case.

The Woman Harassment Complaint Committee at the varsity, that convened on Tuesday allowed the professor in question to resume grilling of the complainant. He is learnt to have told the victim in the course of cross-question that he gave her ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) only on the advice of the VC, allowing her to continue research under a new guide.

The victim will cross-question the accused in the next date of inquiry scheduled on April 15.
