Thinking positively

Last Updated 13 April 2011, 18:23 IST

By doing this, in no time, you find your negative thoughts evaporating, with your spirits

For instance, imagine with your family, you are watching on a night, a rivetting cricket match on your telly screen. Precisely at that moment, the power supply goes pop! Now, positive thinking does help here.

Instead of spewing expletives on the 'spoil-sport playing' power supply, try seeing the sunny side of the situation. Soon, you'll discern the opportunity that you have been bestowed with, to closely interact with other members of your family! In fact, you've a chance here to enjoy some scintillating and animated conversations with them, catching up on the day's happenings in their life.

Similarly, visualise that you've set your sights fully on a cushy job, or some coveted educational course, which would have strongly captivated your heart.

But with your efforts to bag it turning fiasco, you rather end up taking up some other job/course.  Now, instead of feeling dejected, if you think positively, maybe you are more cut out for the present profession/course. Also, in the course of time, you may even find your present job/course to be inordinately interesting, with your intellectual horizon getting more broader and wider. What's more, through serendipity, you may even discover some of your latent/dormant talents, hitherto unknown to you!

Well, these apart, positive thinking always showers one with unstinted confidence, besides helping you to remain ever composed and collected, under any given circumstances.

So much so that even monumental tasks/hurdles appear as a mere cake-walk to you! And that you don't get spooked or unnerved, even when caught in formidable situations in life.

On the other hand, when you allow yourself to be assailed by negative thoughts, it subliminally hurls you in tetchy mood, unhinges your mental equipoise, besides corroding your inner peace and happiness, which in turn may act as a stumbling block in your path to academic/professional success.

So unequivocally, nurturing positive thoughts is always good for one's over-all well-being.

As, these thoughts not only exponentially ramp up your mental peace and confidence levels; they also save you from becoming a slave to your emotions, and captive to your gloomy moods, when your spirits are waning!
