They are small-time actors, but big-time thieves

The suspects are Yogish alias Punith (26) from Bharamsagar in Chitradurga district, Dines h alias Akash (25) of Obbalgere, Arakalgudu taluk — both small-time actors, Ram (28) from Kunigal, Vinay (27) from Maddur, and Satish (28), a resident of Kondajji in Chitradurga.

They had stolen 25 motorbikes worth Rs 12.50 lakh from Upparpet, Magadi Road, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, High Grounds, Seshadripuram, Cubbon Park and Central areas.

The police also recovered jewellery worth Rs four lakh from them. They had also stolen bikes from villages in Hassan, Mandya and Tumkur districts and had sold them dirt-cheap to customers in Bangalore.

Theft at ashram

Police arrested Swamy (24) and Chandrashekhar (24), both from Kamakshipalya, and Kiran Kumar (22), a resident of Kottigepalya, and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 5.60 lakh.
The trio had recently barged into Shivabharathi Ashram on Doddabele Road in Kengeri, tied the hands and legs of Sarojamma with a rope, and assaulted Shivamaruthi Swami with lethal weapons, before fleeing with the jewels.

Morning walker robbed

A morning walker was robbed of a gold chain by an unidentified man at the Lalbagh Gardens on Tuesday.

The suspect, who pretended to be a walker, followed the victim, Vasanthi from Siddapur, snatched her chain worth Rs 30,000, and fled. Vasanthi screamed for help and a few people chased the suspect. But he jumped over a wall and vanished, police said.
