Horrendous highway

The 73-km long road from Donigal to Subramanya boasts of having three state highways. The road connects places such as Byakaravalli, Virajpet, Byndur, Vanaguru, Jannapura and Subramanya. It also connects Bangalore-Jalsuru state highway.

With summer season at its peak and tourists teeming into the taluk, government officials are yet to improve this road.

The ` 20 crore proposal for asphalting the Vanaguru-Bisiler Road submitted to the State Government by the Public Works Department is yet to see the light of the day. During the reign of H D Kumaraswamy Government,  locals had hoped of better roads as 180 km Horanadu-Subramanya had reached the tender process.

However, the successive government cancelled the tender process. Since then people had been facing this ordeal daily.

Tourist spots in Sakleshpur

Sakleshpur Taluk boasts of tourist spots such as Bisile Reserve Forest, Abbey Falls and Attihalli Falls. The route also connects the ‘Kaaginahare Hills’ from which the bewitching expanse of the Western Ghats is visible.

The route also connects pilgrim centres such as Kukke Subramanya, Kumaralingeshwara Temple near Vanaguru. With major link roads connecting more than 100 villages, it is yet to be seen when the State Government and its bureaucracy responds to the woes of the people.
