The policy was to come into effect from April 1 but could not be implemented as new rules are yet to be framed, officials said.<br /><br />Sand extraction will be allowed for existing lease-holders till the new rules are framed, the officials said and added that a Government Order to this effect will be issued soon. <br /><br />The new policy was envisaged to put an end to sand mining irregularities in the State and increase revenue collection from sand extraction.<br /><br />Lorry Association Secretary B V Narayanappa has welcomed the government’s decision. “Following the government’s assurance we have decided to withdraw our proposed call for an indefinite lorry strike,” he said.</p>
