Blasting the government for not even seeking legal opinion in two and half years after the Lokayukta filed his report, says “This is simply not acceptable and indicates the extent to which the rot has set in and the vested interests have a hold on the government”.

The CEC noted that officers had confirmed that no action has been taken to verify the details of the alleged raising contracts. The CEC pointed that the government could have verified the details by looking into bank accounts or I-T returns.

The government has informed CEC that Advocate General had given his opinion on March 23 that raising contracts would be contrary to the Mineral Concession Rule, 1960. The file is currently with the chief minister, and the state has submitted that necessary action will be taken after the approval of the chief minister.
