Two unidentified shot a realtor near BGS Hospital near Kengeri on Friday.

According to police, Dhanraj, a realtor and resident of Kodipalya was riding his bike on Uttarahalli Main Road where two bike-borne youth accosted him. The pillion rider took out a pistol, fired at Dhanraj and fled. The bullet pierced Dhanraj’s waist.

“The incident took place in front of the main arch of the BGS Hospital. He stumbled into the hospital crying for help. He was immediately operated on and shifted to the ICU,” hospital security staffer Mallesh told Deccan Herald.

Quoting doctors, Nagarathna, wife of Dhanraj, said her husband was critical. She said one of his kidneys and a part of his intestine have been removed.

‘Neighbour’ suspected

Akram, a man with criminal background, is suspected to have fired at Dhanraj. Akram’s brother Irfan is serving a sentence in Central Prisons at Parappana Agrahara. Police said Akram suspected Dhanraj of providing information against his brother.

Nagarathna said it was the second time that Akram attacked her husband. “A year ago, four of his associates rammed a car against my husband’s bike near Subramanyapura. They attacked him with lethal weapons,” she said and requested for police protection.

Nagarathna said they had been staying at Kodipalya for over a decade and Akram was their neighbour.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar and DCP (West) S N Siddaramappa visited the spot and the hospital.
