Answering queries of press persons on the report by the special investigating committee which had reportedly mentioned that illegal mining is widespread in Karnataka, he said that the government would not support the illegal mining. The minister was in the city to attend a workshop.

“I have not completely read the report. As I have read about it only in the newspapers, I am not in a position to express my stand. As affirmed earlier, the State government would not allow people to loot natural resource in the form of mining,” he said, adding that the government will take further decision only after it receives the report and discusses in the cabinet.

Informing about his Kuduremukh visit on Friday, he said a discussion was held with regard to promoting Kuduremukh using the available facilities.

But the decision has not been taken yet. “It was discussed in the meeting if KIOCL and Jungle Lodge would be jointly able to start environment tourism in Kuduremukh using the available facilities.

We would place this proposal in front of the Forest Department and other organisations which have fought against KIOCL, take their opinion and then come to a decision,” he informed.
