Recreating Raj magic on celluloid

To be inaugurated by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the morning, the festival features classics like “Satya Harishchandra”, “Kasturi Nivasa” right up to Annavru’s last blockbuster, “Shabdavedi.”

Says Make-Up Krishna of the Ranga Jangama Trust which has organised the festival: “There has been no other actor with such range - his body language suited all kinds of roles. Keeping this in mind and the fact that all these films conveyed an important message to the society, we have chosen 10 films that will bring in Annavru’s fans - both the old and the young.” 

The festival will begin with the screening of the five-part documentary Dr Raj Jeevanadhare, followed by two films.

President of the producer’s association K C N Chandru, writer Doddarangegowda, actors
Jayanthi, Shivaram, Srinivasamurthy, Tara, Rakshitha and Mamatha Rao, apart from Rajkumar’s family will share their memories and experiences with the doyen on the occasion.

Students of Ranga Jangama will present a demo of various acting skills on the occasion, said Krishna. Entry to the event is free.
