'Life term for corrupt should become a norm'

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of Bharath Swabhiman Yathra and free mass yoga camp held at Nehru Maidan, Baba Ramdev who had arrived at the city to lead the camp said, Bharath Sawabhiman Yathra which intends to create a healthy and corruption-free society has seven demands to be forwarded to the PM.

Stressing on one of the demands, i.e., the effective implementation of strong Lokpal Bill, he said the Lokpal should have infrastructure to receive complaints from every citizen.
No corrupt person must be spared from receiving punishment and lifetime imprisonment, he urged.

One of his demands is the cancellation of currency of higher denominations. Informing the same, he said: “Kaale paise se kaala kaam hota hai. Ban the production and transaction of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. Black money deposited in the banks abroad must be brought to India and it should be announced as the national asset. A strong foreign policy must be brought in to affect,” Baba Ramdev  stated.

When asked about his previous comments over the appointment of Bhushan-father-son duo in the Lokpal Bill draft committee, he said he would like to remain quiet as what he needs is only the effective implementation of Lokpal Bill by the government.

The Yathra which has traveled 75,000 km so far will be concluded in Delhi on June 1. He informed that a huge campaign will be held in Delhi where the Central government will be urged to consider the demands.
