File complaint if you are forced to pay donation for I PU

Last Updated 08 May 2009, 18:35 IST

“Students and parents should file written complaint to the deputy commissioner, if an institute pressurises them to pay donation or any other kind of financial aid during admission to I year PUC,” stated Ahinda working president Lolaksha in a press release.
Students who are willing to seek admission to I PUC should obtain application from the respective institutes before May 9 by paying only Rs 15 and should submit the filled application before May 12. Students should keep a photocopy of the filled application for future use, he suggested.

According to the Circular issued by the State Pre-University Education Department, all colleges should display the names of the students who were selected by them on May 21.

Accordingly, parents of students should pay the fees only after May 21.

He further pointed out that all colleges including government, aided private, unaided private and minority should adhere to reservation policy of the government strictly.

If students were admitted violating reservation policy, such admission will be considered as void by the department, he informed.

Flays colleges

Meanwhile, speaking at a press meet on Friday, he charged that most of the private PU colleges in the district violate PU Education Department’s norms by collecting huge amount of donation from students during admission.

Students belonging to SC, ST and backward communities are deprived of their right to education due to the incompetency of officials concerned. The PU Education Department, which is responsible for making PU admission process transparent and fair, does not take any action against colleges which violate rules. Moreover, department’s inaction encourages college authorities to collect donations and excessive fees from students illegally, he added.

He demanded that all PU colleges necessarily should publish the list of all students who applied for first PUC admission in their institute on May 18. Colleges should collect fees from the students only after the publication of final selection list on May 21, he said adding that government should take stringent action against colleges if norms are violated.

Ahinda president Vasudeva Bolooru and general secretary B A M Haneef were present.
