The magicians, in their colourful attire, were exhibiting their talents before an impressive gathering. While one took out items from the magic box, another converted a burning candle into a beautiful bunch of flowers.

The audience was looking at the magical tricks of every performer with bated breath. The neatly arranged cards were moving as per the instruction of magician. While the clock stopped just by uttering a ‘mantra’, the white clothe became doves. Three different colour clothes put into a box became the national tricolour within seconds.

A magical world was created at the auditorium. Around 400 magicians from Surat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and different parts of the State have arrived in the city of palaces to participate in Mys Maya’ a national conference of magicians.

More than 30 stalls are put up in the premises to sell magic items. The first day was dedicated to lecture by veteran magicians, one minute competition, street magic and grand gala show. Earlier, noted historian, Prof P V Nanjaraje Urs inaugurated the conference.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the babas who claim themselves as ‘God men’ and claim possessing super natural powers, to banish poverty from the country. “We have read in puranas and the epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata instances such as Lord Hanuman bringing Sanjivini Hills to treat Lakshman, the younger brother of Sri Rama and Lord Krishna coming in disguise during the ‘Vastrapaharana’ . The magicians of present day have to entertain the people with tricks but should not cheat people by taking advantage of blind believes of people”. Journalist, Rajashekar Koti said Saibaba of Puttaparthi gives gold ring and chain for rich people and ash for poor people. God never differentiates.

It is the self-claimed ‘God men’ who do such things. Whatever done was purely tricks and not super natural powers.
