Delegation to meet CM

The district BJP unit will take a delegation of MLAs to the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to urge the government to release additional funds for the integrated development of the district.

Speaking to presspersons, District BJP unit President M K Pranesh said that the delegation will also meet Ministers concerned. The work on asphaltation of Chikmagalur-Kadur road has commenced. In the first phase, the work on filling the potholes will be taken up.

All the trees which disrupt the movement of vehicles will be felled. The asphaltation of road will be completed within two months.

Drought

The State government has already declared Kadur as drought affected taluk in the State and has released Rs 79 lakh to take up development work. Using the funds, hydrofracturing of borewells, flushing will be taken up. About 207 work will be taken up including the construction of water tanks, he informed.

The district has 5,136.50 km road. To make the road motorable, a proposal of Rs 1,555.41 lakh has been submitted to the State government.

Under Chief Minister’s rural road development project, a sum of Rs 2.50 crore each has been released for five taluks. The funds will be utilised for development 79 roads covering 49.21 km.

Tender has been invited for the same and the road work will commence at the earliest, he added. Pranesh said under 13th Finance Commission, a sum of Rs 447 lakh has been released for seven taluks in the district. Tender has been invited for the maintenance of 193 roads covering 193.69 km.

A sum of Rs 157.14 lakh has been released for the development of roads in Kadur and Tarikere taluks. About 74 roads covering 79.98 km will be developed. He alleged that the opposition leaders are levelling false allegations against the District-in-Charge Minister and MLAs.
