Last Updated 24 April 2011, 18:38 IST

During the hearing of a petition by Dr D V Guruprasad, the Director General of Police, Fire and Emergency Services, the Tribunal directed the government to forward to the Union Public Service Commission before May 1, the names and service records of all the officers of DGP cadre in the State.

The Tribunal has asked the Commission to prepare a seniority list before May 20 in pursuance of the directions of the Supreme Court. The government has been asked to appoint an ‘eligible officer’ to the post of Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) before June 1.

Guruprasad had contested the direction to include the names of police officers of Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) cadre or those who have completed 30 years of service in the selection list for the post of DG&IGP.
