Following a post mortem on Sunday, Prakash was taken to Shimoga, his home town, where his family, including his wife and two-year-old daughter, lives.

Prakash, a mechanical engineer by training, was a partner in a City firm he and his friend Shankarlinge Gowda started seven years ago - SP Engineers and Contractors. The letters ‘S’ and ‘P’ stood for the first names of the two partners.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Shankarlinge Gowda who was on his way to Shimoga with the body of Prakash, said it was “an unbearable loss” for him as Prakash was not only his business partner but his classmate and childhood friend for more than two decades.

"We used to meet near a hotel at Kurubara Sangha almost everyday; two other friends were to join us. Prakash was trying to find a place to park his car and since it was raining, it was difficult to find a place. Unfortunately, he parked in the wrong place."

Gowda said he was trying to call Prakash on his phone, but there was no answer. When he heard that a wall had collapsed, he along with his friends rushed to the spot, only to find Prakash inside the car crushed under the debris.

IT pro electrocuted

The heavy rain in the City on Saturday claimed the life of Avinash Tripathy, an IT professional who was electrocuted on SJP Road.

Avinash, a 28-year-old from Lucknow, died after he came in contact with the live wire, which had fallen on the ground due to the torrential rain.

"He was crossing the road, wading through a puddle of water. He probably slipped and his hand touched one of the high voltage wires and he was electrocuted," said Anil Kumar, Avinash's cousin.

Avinash, a post-graduate in mathematics, also had an MCA degree.  He worked in Millennium Computers.

He leaves his parents and two younger siblings. His father works with Uttar Pradesh Nirman Nigam Limited in Lucknow.
