Kadhal Kadhai

It touts itself as a ‘real love story.’ It actually turns out to be a sleaze and skin show. Canned for five years by the Censor Board for its carnal scenes, ‘Kadhal Kadhai’ has unfortunately passed muster with the censors after suggested cuts.

Justifying his film director Prabhakaran has said, “I wanted to bring out that anatomy is an ordinary thing and educate my audience to curb the crime rate.” His premise: lust is the root cause of all social crimes because of sexual suppression.  He appears in the film giving a long lecture on sexual freedom.  Honourable though his intentions are to bring to the fore the exploitation of women’s physique, he, too has conveniently preferred sexploitation.

Instead of a sensitive and aesthetic tale of three victims of lust turning amoral, the maker of ‘Naalaya Manithan’, ‘Asuran’ and ‘Kaduval’, has taken to titillation.
