Cong to stage protest against hike in SAS

Speaking to mediapersons, former MLA and Congress leader Vijay Kumar Shetty said the decision of the MCC to hike property tax without taking the opposition party and the general public into confidence is nothing but the sign of dictatorship. The MCC Commissioner had all rights to stop the hike in tax, but he did not use his power. Instead, the Commissioner is simply acting like a puppet in the hands of the ruling party, he alleged.

The MCC opposition leader Lancelot Pinto said the ruling party should have discussed the issue of hike in SAS in the Council meeting and then should have taken a decision.
He said that the MCC is collecting cess for Solid Waste Management even before starting the door-to-door solid waste collection.

The opposition party members would create an awareness among the public about the injustice meted upon them. “We will visit all the 60 wards and will create public opinion against the hike in SAS. People will take part in the protest irrespective of their political inclination,” he said.
