Congress shortlists six names

The names were shortlisted at a meeting chaired by AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Ghulam Nabi Azad. The shortlisted names are: Priyank Kharge (Chittapur), Priya Krishnappa (Govindarajanagar), Jayanna ( Kollegal), C M Lingappa ( Ramanagar).

For the Channapatna Assembly constituency, two names have been shortlisted - those of D K Suresh, brother of KPCC working president D K Shivakumar, and T K Yogesh. Shivakumar is said to have told the party leaders not to field his brother. AICC president Sonia Gandhi is likely to approve the list on Saturday or Monday.

The meeting was attended by KPCC president R V Deshpande, working president D K Shivakumar, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and others.
