BJP backed candidates sweep APMC polls

Among the 12 constituencies in Madikeri, the BJP candidates have in 11 constituencies. except for Kunjila constituency where the Congress has won the seat, the BJP has scored victory in all other constituencies. In Gonikoppa taluk, e the BJP has won 11 seats out of 12 constituencies. The Congress has won one seat, i.e., in Hudikeri. As far as Kushalnagar APMC is concerned, the BJP has won eight seats, while the Congress and the JD(S) have shared two seats each.

Winners

Peraje-Seetharam Nayak (Scheduled Tribe) from BJP; Sampaje-Kimmudira Jagadish (General) from BJP; Maragodu-Baleyada Meenakumari (Women) from BJP; Kanthuru (Murnadu)-Pudiyokkada Somaiah (General) from BJP; Hakathur-Kuthanji R Thimaiah (General) from BJP; Bettageri-Areyada A Ganesh (Backward Class ‘A’) from BJP; Bhagamandala-Harijanakumara (Scheduled Caste) from BJP; Napoklu-Bollachetira U Kalappa (Backward class ‘B’) from BJP; Kunjila (Kakkabbe)-Manivateera Daya Chinnappa (General) from Congress; Nariyandada Ithichanda B Bheemaiah (General) from BJP; Traders constitency- D N Anil Kumar (General) from BJP. The winning BJP candidates were later congratulated at Zilla Panchayat office.

Somwarpet

Taluk RMC election in Somwarpet too had BJP candidates romping the house by bagging eight out of 12 seats. Congress and JD(S) bagged two seats each. Kushalnagar, Shanthalli, Hanagallu, Kodlipet, Beluru, Cheralasrimangala and Hebbale constituencies have been bagged by BJP while Gaudalli and Shanivarasanthe fell into JD(S) hands. Traders’ constituency and Kiragunduru was won over by Congress.


Virajpet

In Virajpet 11 out of 12 seats of APMC fell into BJP’s hands. Congress could manage to get just one seat.  M Shashi from Chembebelur; B S chandrashekar from Ponnampet and G S Ganapathi from Traders’ constituency won unanimously. Patrapanda Nanaiah from Arameri constituency; Machimanda B Vasanth from Amathi, M S Annadore Devaiah from Palibetta, A Mahesh Ganapathy from Bettangala, H A Girish from Balele, Cheriyanda Sajith Ravindra from Kanuru, K Chaanda from Srimangala, Nellira Chalan Kumar from T Shettigeri have won from BJP. Chakkera B Rathish has won from Hudikeri constituency from Congress.
