Following allegations of corruption against Ramanjaneya, a Karnataka Administrative Service officer, Lokayukta set a trap for him. Ramanjaneya and two of his private aides were caught on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a land owner Narayanaswamy of Bommasandra.

Narayanaswamy had approached Ramanjaneya to get a 5.14-acre agricultural land at Bommasandra in Anekal Taluk converted into residential plots. In exchange, Ramanjaneya demanded Rs two lakh bribe which Narayanaswamy had agreed to pay in instalments.

Ramanjaneya was caught red handed when Narayanswamy paid the money to one of Ramanjaneya’s aides following instructions from him.
