He was speaking at a KDP meeting in Madikeri on Saturday. “Some departments have shown good progress. The progress of some departments are not satisfactory.” He directed the officials to show better performance in the next KDP meeting.

“Kodagu has incurred a loss of Rs 50 crore owing to the heavy rains. Government has already released Rs 5 crore under Natural Calamity Fund. I have sought additional fund from the government. CM has assured to release the fund. Officials should undertake work which will remain permanently and give prominence to quality,” he added.

Assembly Deputy Speaker K G Bopaiah appealed to the Minister to provide a boat to Bhagamandala, Nittur-Balele, Begur, Cherambane. He said “it is not difficult to provide a boat from Ports and Inland Transport department. However, its maintenance is difficult. The department is ready to provide a boat if proposals are sent.”

The meeting decided to serve a show cause notice to DCF (Hunasur wild life division), NCC officer, Drug Controller and other officials who remained absent to the meeting.

Decision

MLA M P Appacchuranjan said that there is no peace from Nemmadi kendra in the district.
Bopaiah demanded details on how many applications have been received by the department of Food and Civil Supplies for changing APL-BPL card? However, the Deputy Director replied vaguely saying no applications have been received. In the meantime, Virajpet Tahsildar Sathish Kumar said “In our taluk, we have received 1,500 applications. I have brought the matter to the notice of department concerned.” Enraged over this, Bopaiah took Food and Civil Supplies Deputy Director Shanmukhaswamy to task.

MP H Vishwanath, DC Ashwatha Narayana Gowda, ZP President S N Rajarao, ZP CEO Mirja Akbarulla, SP Shivaprasad were present.

‘Change

The yardstick to review the progress achieved by various departments in KDP meetings should change, said MP H Vishwanath.

Speaking at the KDP meeting on Saturday, he said “there is no use of collecting statistical figures from the officials. In this regard, a separate meeting should be convened in the presence of District-in-Charge Minister, MLA and officials concerned on the implementation of the programmes.”

“KDP meetings are misleading. Officials do not provide proper information. In this background, District-in-Charge Minister should convene a meeting to verify the implementation of the programmes.”
