The process for the recruitment of specialists doctors is on. About 500 doctors will be recruited within a month, said Minister for Health and Family Welfare B Sriramulu.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, he said no citizen in any corner of the district would be denied medical attention after the recruitment of specialist doctors. The poor will be extended a good medical service in all the regions, he said.

Earlier, in his address after the inauguration of primary health care centre at Arakalgud, he said hundreds of poor patients benefited from the Vajpayee Arogyashree scheme introduced by the government.

The scheme would be extended to Bangalore and old Mysore regions in a month, he disclosed.

He asked the doctors and para-medical staff of the government hospitals to serve visitors with a smiling face.

“The government hospitals has a disrepute that there are no proper facilities available to patients. Hence, the visitors here only comprise poor and people from lower middle-class families. The doctors should serve these patients sincerely,” he opined.

He also warned the doctors and staff against denying medicines for the patients visiting rural health centres and hospitals.

If a medicine was not available in hospital, it is the duty of the concerned medical authorities to raise amount from hospital fund to make the drug available for the patient from outside, he added.
