Speaking to Deccan Herald, Horticulture department Joint Director Prasad said the government has given an opportunity for direct purchase. Under National Horticulture Mission, it has been decided to supply Copper Sulphate at the rate of Rs 145 per kg by inviting a tender. However, tender holders refused to supply copper sulpahte below Rs 145. In fact, copper sulphate is available in market between Rs 110 to Rs 113.  In this background, it has been decided to call the farmers to purchase copper sulphate from Mancos, TAPCMS, Campco Marketing Federation and collect financial assistance from the department.

For the purchase of copper sulphate, farmers will get 50 per cent financial assistance. A maximum of Rs 1,000 will be given to per beneficiary per hectare.

The farmers should submit an application along with RTC copy, bill for the purchase of copper sulphate, copy of bank pass book for reclaiming the financial assistance, Prasad added.

In fact, various organisations had proposed to hold a protest in front of Horticulture department on July 27 demanding copper sulphate in the district.
