Kathak recital

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, will be presenting a kathak dance recital under the ‘Horizon Series’ on May 14, 6.30 pm. It will feature kathak exponent Jayanthi M Eshwarputhi, an empanelled artiste of the ICCR.  The venue is Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road.

Interactive session

This will be followed by interactive session for kids, songs, dance etc.

Dance ensemble

Nrityasari, an evening of kathak recital, will be held at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram on May 15, 6.30 pm. A dance ensemble by Anjana Gupta, Bharathi Vittal, Charumathi Srikant, Chitra Arvind and Sumana Ranjalkar will be presented on the occasion.

In concert

Hindustani Sangeeta Kalakara Mandali, along with Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs, is presenting ‘S M Kulkarni Memorial Concert’ on May 14, 6 pm.
On the occasion, there will be a Hindustani vocal recital by Ravindra Soragavi, accompanied by Rav­indra Katoti on harmonium and Rajendra Nakod on tabla.

Tribute to Tagore

Smriti Nandan Cultural Centre is holding ‘Gita Gyana Yagna’, a lecture series in English by Guru Haridas on Bhagavad Gita on May 14, 9.30 am. On the same day at 6.30 pm, ‘Beyond Boundaries’, a tribute to Tagore will be conducted.

The  programme will have Rabindra Sangeet based on the theme of love and worship. There will also be recitation and reading of the play Sanyasi by S Ramaswamy and Smriti Nandan Group. The venue is Smriti Nandan Cultural Centre, 15/3 Palace Road. For details, call 22258091.

Miniature theatre

Miniature theatre is presenting two parallel shows from ‘The Arrow of Nectar - Banaganga’ by Uma Nagraj and ‘Awe strikes Mother Yashodha’ by Deepika Dorai on May 14, 6.30 pm at Miniature Theatres, Bimba The Art Ashram,  42 Ratna Vilas Road, Basavanagudi.

Music appreciation

Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira and Sangeet Natak Akademi are presenting a symposium on music appreciation with special reference to Carnatic music on May 15, 10 am to 2 pm, at Bangalore Gayana Samaja, K R Road, Basavanagudi.  The speakers are Radha Bhaskar, R N Srilatha and S A K Durga.

Creative strokes

Solo performance

Rangashree B, a disciple of Radha Shridhar, will present her rangapravesha on May 15, 6.05 pm at ADA Rangamandira, opposite Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road.

Rangashree started her initial training in classical dance under Malathi Venkatesh and pursued urther training under Kusuma Nagendra. She has performed in numerous solo performances, group choreographies and dance-dramas. She has also won several prizes in inter-school competitions. 

Anniversary celebrations
Shree Gurugaanalahari Sangeeta Sabha is holding its second anniversary celebrations called Sangeetotsav on May 14, 4 pm at Nayana Sabhangana, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road. There will be vocal and tabla recital by students of Shree Gurugaana Lahari School followed by Hindustani vocal recital by Smita Bellur and Shivanand Herur.
