He took just 3 hour 26 minutes to swim 15 kms across the sea from St Mary’s island to Malpe beach with both his hands tied behind his back and legs fastened with handcuffs.

Speaking to media persons, Gopal Kharvi informed that he had achieved the feat on December 20, 2009. He started his journey in the sea at around 7.47 am on December 20 from St Mary’s Island and reached Malpe shore at 11.13 am. He wants to enter Guinness Book of World Records.

He has the credit of swimming continuously for 6 hours covering 40 kms in sea from sea opening at Hangarakatte to St Mary’s island to Malpe beach to Katpadi Mattu beach. Kharvi has covered 80 kms in sea from Gangolli to Malpe beach in 11.30 hours in the year 2004.
