Dance Review

Poor show

The Keshava Nritya Shala is one of the oldest dance schools of Bangalore. It has trained hundreds of young aspirants under the direction of H R Keshavamurthy, veteran dance teacher. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary Keshava Nrithya Shala presented the dance drama ‘Shilathapaswini.’

It was based on ‘Ramayana darshanam’ of Dr K V Puttappa. The story contained Thataki samhara, Mareecha samhara, Ahalya shaapa vimochana etc. Young dancers performed changing their roles in quick succession and gay abandon. But it requires to be edited GRACE PERSONIFIED: Performance by students of Aradhanaand corrected many things to make it successful. Shrivatsa and Bharathi Venugopal (vocal), Dr Nataraja Murhty (violin), Lingaraju (mridanga), Madhura (flute), B K Vasanthalakshmi and B K Shyam Prakash (choreography) were incharge of their respective wings.

Young talents

Earlier, seven-year-old girl Lasya Priya performed ‘Kalyani Geervani’ (a composition on Saraswathi) with ease and assurance. Students of Aradhana presented Pushpanjali, Shabda (Raga malike), Shiva and a thillana (Kadana kuthuhala), under the direction of Sudha Nagaraj, which brought to light their good training.
