Cong, JD(S) submit memoranda to Guv, seek BSY's ouster

JD(S) spokesperson Y S V Datta went to the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum by JD(S) MLA H D Revanna at the Governor’s office. The MLC was not given an appointment by the latter. Datta said that in the event of the Governor giving consent for the proposed 10-day Budget session from Monday, JD(S) would not participate.

“The JD(S) will not participate in the session. The government is indulging in open and blatant horse trading. The Governor should take cognisance of this, dismiss the government and dissolve the Assembly,” he said.

JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy, who used to personally hand over his party’s representations to the Governor, did not do so on Sunday. The former chief minister was in New Delhi, making a last ditch attempt to lure the ‘qualified’ BJP MLAs back to his camp.

Congress leaders were luckier than the JD(S) leaders. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah and KPCC President G Parameshwara met the Governor late Sunday evening.

The Congress leaders were closeted with the Governor for more than half-an-hour. They too have demanded the dismissal of the government.

“How can the MLAs, who had earlier submitted a letter to the Governor withdrawing their support to the BSY-led government, now present another letter expressing their support to the same chief minister? This is nothing but a failure of the Constitutional norms. The MLAs are definitely going to get pulled up, because they are on the Supreme Court radar,” said Parameshwara.
