Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, S Prakash, BJP State media in-charge, said the party’s call for organising demonstrations in 30 districts on Tuesday to protest against Governor H R Bhardwaj’s recommendation for dismissal of the BJP government, was a huge success.

“We will hold demonstrations at the taluk level from tomorrow. Our agitation will continue till the Centre rejects the Governor’s report and recalls him from the State,” Prakash said. He said the Congress had no moral right to seek the resignation of Speaker Bopaiah.

“Did Prime Minister Manmohan Singh resign when the Supreme Court struck down the appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas, owning moral responsibility,” Prakash asked.

He told reporters that the Governor had been harassing the Government from the day he assumed office. “The Governor does not seem to have come out of his party fold. For imposition of President’s Rule, there should be a total breakdown of law and order or the Government should have lost its majority. But such a situation doesn’t prevail here,” he argued.
